Euston Plane Fruit Bowl

This gargantuan slice of London plane from Euston Station is unapologetically bold. Whilst retaining is functionality as a wide, welcoming fruit bowl, it is no doubt a statement piece in its design and in its size.

Very pronounced crimson lacewood mixes with the deep ochre-brown typical of London plane timber. Naturally occurring splits were sealed with the dust of the wood itself (please see photos carefully).

This gives the bowl added strength whilst making a feature of the natural imperfections of an organic material.

Finished with natural tung oil. NB: Tung oil can retain its nutty odour for a while depending on airflow and temperature. This will wear off with time and is just part and parcel of finishing with natural products.
