Caring For Your Bowl

As a natural material, wood reacts to sunlight, heat and liquids over time.
It is important to show your bowl some love and care.
  • Wash: Hand wash your bowl as soon as possible after use. Avoid soaking in water. Use a soapy sponge and a generous rinse. Do not wash in a dishwasher.
  • Oil: Re-oiling your bowl will retain freshness and restore moisture in the grain. Something readily available is fine - sunflower oil, vegetable oil or rapeseed oil. Something more robust is better - tung oil, linseed oil, hemp oil, mineral oil, flaxseed oil, almond oil or walnut oil.
Do not use olive oil.
Do not use nut-based oils if you have a nut allergy.

  • Patina: Foods and flavours will gradually form a patina in your bowl. Please expect that the colour and texture of your wood will evolve over time. This is all part of using natural materials in the kitchen.
Take care of your bowl and it will gladly serve you for a lifetime!
