My name is Mike Groves, I’m from the Essex countryside where I first discovered my passion for trees. My background is in anthropology and I’m fascinated by the relationship between people and objects. I’m particularly inspired by the design and food cultures of Korea, China and Japan.
All of my woodwork honours the humble tree and the passion I have for them is instilled into everything I create. Staying true to my philosophy of giving trees a second life, I work with sustainably sourced British hardwoods and reclaimed timber.
Objects create connections; clutch a bowl and tuck into something hearty, made with love, or pass it amongst friends and family at a feast. Each bowl is designed to be held and cherished for years to come.
