Skapa Woodturning
Reclaimed Sapele Platter
Couldn't load pickup availability
A former kitchen top that was left discarded on a streetside in Deptford, southeast London. An opportunistic forage allowed for the salvageable and workable remainder of this timber to be turned into a deep red-brown platter.
Sapele wood is from West Africa and to discard beautiful timber that’s travelled so far is a crime against the planet, the forests and people who lived amongst this tree. This platter is an attempt to offset some of the damage done in the felling and trafficking of this wood by giving it a renewed purpose.
25.5 x 3.5cm
Finished with food safe, tasteless and odourless mineral oil. For advice on caring for your bowl, please see the ‘Care’ section located on the homepage.
