Douglas Fir Salad Bowl
Salvaged from a building site, this slab of Douglas fir boasts crazily vivid growth rings in pink and orange. Douglas fir is a softwood, meaning it grows fast, straight and pretty much knot-free. This piece best serves as a fruit bowl as softwoods don’t have the structural density as hardwoods. It would, of course, still hold up perfectly for salads, charcuterie and mezze dishes.
NB: A little split in the rim (see photos), sealed up and serviceable.
